Treatment of hepatic encephalopathy in patients w/ chronic liver disease.
Adult 500-1,000 mL/dose by IV drip infusion. Usual peripheral infusion rate: 500 mL over 180-300 min (approx 25-40 drops/min).
Patients w/ serious renal disorder; abnormal amino acid metabolism.
Caution in patients w/ severe acidosis; congestive cardiac failure; patients on dialysis or hemofiltration w/ serious renal disorder; elderly. Contains about 12 mEq/L Na & 94 mEq/L Cl. Safety in childn has not been established.
Hypoglycemia, hyperammonemia.
