Indications/Uses
Add-on therapy in adults & adolescents ≥15 yr w/ mild to moderate persistent asthma who are inadequately controlled on inhaled corticosteroids & in whom "as-needed" short acting β-agonists provide inadequate clinical control of asthma. Symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis. Prophylaxis of asthma in which the predominant component is exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥15 yr 10 mg (1 tab) daily to be taken in the evening. Elderly, patient w/ renal insufficiency or mild to moderate hepatic impairment No dose adjustment.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Never use to treat acute asthma attacks. Not to be substituted abruptly for inhaled or oral corticosteroids. May be associated w/ emergence of Churg-Strauss syndrome. Monitor for signs of eosinophilia, vasculitic rash, worsening pulmonary symptoms, cardiac symptoms &/or neuropathy presenting in patients. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
