Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of OA, RA & ankylosing spondylitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
OA, RA 200 mg once daily or in 2 divided doses, may increase dose to 200 mg bd. Ankylosing spondylitis 200 mg once daily or in 2 divided doses, may increase dose to 400 mg bd. Max recommended daily dose: 400 mg. Elderly (>65 yr) Initially 200 mg/ day, then may increase dose to 200 mg bd. CYP2C9 poor metabolisers, moderate liver impairment w/ serum albumin 25-35 g/L ½ the lowest recommended dose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Patients w/ severe heart failure & for the treatment of peri-op pain in the setting of CABG surgery. Childn.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ CV disease or risk factors for CV disease; increased risk of serious GI adverse events including bleeding, ulceration & perforation of the stomach or intestines; elderly patients are at greater risk for serious GI events. Patients in whom renal prostaglandins have a compensatory role in the maintenance of renal perfusion. Impaired renal function, heart failure, liver dysfunction, those taking diuretics & ACE inhibitors. Not recommended in patients w/ advanced renal disease. Closely monitor patient's renal function. Elderly.
