AdultAntipsychotic Initially 25 mg (base) bd w/ increases of 25-50 mg (base) bd or tds to a target dosage range of 300-400 mg (base) a day, in divided doses given bd-tds, by the 4th-7th day. May adjust dose in increments or decreaments of 25-50 mg (base) bd at intervals of 2 days. Some patients may require as little as 150 mg/day. Usual adult prescribing limit: 750 mg (base) daily. A slower rate of dosage titration & a lower target dosage should be considered in geriatric patients & in patients w/ hepatic impairment, predisposition to hypotension or other debilitation.
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not split/chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Alzheimer's dementia, existing or history of breast cancer, CV disease; cerebrovascular disease; dehydration or hypovolemia; history of drug abuse or dependence, hepatic function impairment, severe renal function impairment; hypothyroidism. Existing or history of seizures.
