Indications/Uses
Treatment of bronchial asthma, pulmonary disease w/ spastic bronchial component & COPD.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult 400 mg bid-tid. Elderly 200 mg bid-tid. Syr Childn >12 yr & elderly 10 mL bid or tid, <12 yr 6-9 mg/kg bid. May be adjusted depending on body wt.
Administration
Tab: May be taken with or without food. Syr: Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Acute MI, gipotenzia arterial (hypotension), arrhythmia, duodenal ulcer, epilepsy, convulsion. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
HTN, heart disease, hypoxemia, hyperthyroidism, chrome right ventricular failure, CHF. Hepatic & renal disease. Patients w/ history of peptic ulcer. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, headache, cephalagia, irritability, insomnia, tachycardia, extrasystole & tachypnea.
Drug Interactions
Other xanthine derivatives including caffeinated foods & beverages. Erythromycin, troleandomycin, lincomycin, clindamycin, allopurinol, cimetidine, propranolol & anti-flu vaccine.
