Indications/Uses
PUD, NSAID-associated ulceration, GERD & Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
20 mg or 40 mg once daily by IV inj (no <3 min) or IV infusion (10-30 min).
Special Precautions
Do not use if it contains white particles, cloudy or discolored, cracked or damaged vial. Do not co-administer w/ ketoconazole or take at least 2 hr before using esomeprazole.
Adverse Reactions
Constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, gas, headache, nausea, pain, swelling or redness at the inj site, stomach pain. Rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue; unusual hoarseness; chest pain; fast heartbeat, fever, chills or sore throat; red, swollen, blistered or peeling skin; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual tiredness.
Drug Interactions
May change the absorption of PIs. Not recommended w/ concomitant use of atazanavir, nelfinavir, rilpivirine, saquinavir or raltegravir. Increased MTX levels. Increased serum levels of tacrolimus. Decreased absorption of ketoconazole, itraconazole & erlotinib. Increased absorption of digoxin. Increased plasma conc w/ diazepam, citalopram, imipramine, clomipramine, phenytoin. Decreased clearance of diazepam. Increased trough plasma levels of phenytoin. Increased Cmax & AUC of voriconazole; cilostazol. Increased AUC & t½ w/ cisapride. Increased INR w/ warfarin. Decrease platelet inhibitory effects w/ clopidogrel. Doubling of AUC w/ clarithromycin. citalopram/escitalopram. Decreased serum levels w/ rifampicin & St. John's wort.
