Indications/Uses
Rabeloc 20: Active duodenal & gastric ulcer. H.pylori +ve duodenal ulcers in combination w/ appropriate antibiotics eg, amoxicillin & clarithromycin as part of eradication programme. Symptomatic erosive or ulcerative GERD or non-erosive reflux disease (NERD). Maintenance treatment of healed erosive or ulcerative GERD. Sequential therapy (step-down) from IV rabeprazole Na. Rabeloc IV: Active duodenal or gastric ulcer w/ bleeding or severe erosions. Severe erosive or ulcerative GERD or NERD where patient is unable to take oral PPIs. Stress-induced mucosal injury in critical care. Prevention of acid-aspiration during surgery. Sequential therapy (step-up) from oral rabeprazole.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Active duodenal & benign gastric ulcer 20 mg once daily in the morning. Erosive or ulcerative GERD 20 mg once daily for 4-8 wk. GERD long-term management 10 or 20 mg once daily up to 12 mth. Zollinger Ellison syndrome 60 mg daily. Range: 20-120 mg daily. IV Alternative to continued oral therapy Recommended adult dose: 20 mg once daily by IV bolus over 15 min or by IV infusion for 7-10 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to substituted benzimidazoles. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Not to be given via IM route. Severe hepatic impairment. Not recommended for use in childn.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, diarrhea, nausea. Rhinitis, abdominal pain, asthenia, flatulence, pharyngitis, vomiting, non-specific pain/back pain, dizziness, flu syndrome, infection, cough, constipation, insomnia.
Drug Interactions
Potential interaction w/ compd that have pH dependent absorption; cyclosporin. Decreased ketoconazole levels by 33% & increased digoxin trough levels by 22% in normal subjects.
