Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 2 tsp or 10 mL up to tid at intervals of at least 6 hr. Childn >2 yr 1 mg/kg tid. Total daily dose: 3 mg/kg at intervals of at least 6 hr; 20-30 kg 5 mL up to tid; 10-20 kg 3 mL up to tid.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Contraindications
Excessive mucus discharge & limited mucociliary function. Severe liver impairment.
Special Precautions
Serious renal insufficiency. Notice to diabetics as this contains 2 g of sucrose. Possibility of drowsiness when driving & operation of machines.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea; exhaustion, faintness, somnolence, stupor, numbness, dizziness, headache; palpitations; hypersensitivity reactions; allergic skin reactions (rare).
Drug Interactions
Care should be taken when co-administered w/ sedative drugs to sensitive individuals.
