Indications/Uses
HTN.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5 mg, increase gradually w/ 0.5 mg given bd or tds for at least 3 days. May be further increase to 1 mg given bd-tds for at least 3 days. Continue incremental increases until desired effect achieved. Max: 20 mg daily. Patients receiving diuretic therapy, other antihypertensive agents Reduce dose of the particular agent & initiate prazosin at 0.5 mg bd or tds. Patients on prazosin to whom other antihypertensive agents added Reduce dose to 1 or 2 mg bd or tds. Moderate to severe renal impairment Initially 0.5 mg daily, increase dose gradually.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Starting dose is best taken w/ dinner, at least 2-3 hr before retiring. Maintenance doses may be taken w/ or w/o meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to prazosin HCl or quinazolines.
