Per 0.5 mL Diphtheria toxoid ≥2 IU, tetanus toxoid ≥20 IU
Indications/Uses
Active immunization of childn ≥7 yr & adults against tetanus & diphtheria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM 2 inj of 0.5 mL at least 4 wk apart followed by 3rd inj 6-12 mth after 2nd dose. Booster immunization Every 10 yr.
Contraindications
Severe reaction to previous dose of diphtheria & tetanus vaccine. History of systemic allergic or neurologic reactions following previous dose of Td. Severe febrile illness.
Special Precautions
Allergic reactions. Not to be inj into blood vessel or skin. Patients on anticoagulant therapy. Reduced immune response to vaccines w/ immunosuppressive therapies including irradiation, antimetabolites, alkylating agents, cytotoxic drugs & corticosteroids. Immunisation of asymptomatic & symptomatic HIV patients.
Adverse Reactions
Inflammation including transient fever, malaise & irritability.
