Patient Medicine Information
Why do I need this medicine?
Benzydamine is used to relieve pain, inflammation or irritation of the mouth and throat in conditions such as mouth ulcers, discomfort after dental procedures, and sore gums, tongue or throat.

This medicine may be used to treat other conditions as decided by your doctor.
How do I use this medicine?
Use Benzydamine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

This medicine is available as throat spray and solution for mouthwash or gargle.

If you are using the solution for mouthwash or gargle, rinse the mouth or gargle for about 20-30 seconds before spitting out. Do not swallow the solution. If the undiluted solution stings your mouth, you may dilute it with equal parts of water.

If you are using the throat spray for the first time, lift the spray tube until it points horizontally then point it away from the face and pump the plunger a few times until it releases a fine spray.

To use the throat spray, follow these steps:
  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Hold the bottle in an upright position then lift the spray tube.
  3. Aim the spray tube at the affected area of your mouth or throat.
  4. Press down the plunger to release one puff. Administer your prescribed dose then take the spray tube out.
  5. After using your spray, wipe the spray tube with a clean tissue and push it back down towards the body to prevent any accidental spray release.
Make sure you know how to use your throat spray. If you have problems or do not understand the instructions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not share your throat spray with others as it could spread infection.

Avoid any contact of the spray mist or mouthwash solution with your eyes. Rinse immediately with water if this medicine accidentally gets into your eyes. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyesight.
