Indications/Uses
Peptic ulcer. To inhibit daytime & nocturnal basal gastric acid secretion stimulated by food, histamine, pentagastrin, caffeine & insulin.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1 tab tid & 1-2 tab at bedtime for 4 wk. Maintenance: 1-2 tab at bedtime.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Special Precautions
Gastric malignancy; renal impairment. Pregnancy, lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea; dizziness, tiredness; rashes. Infrequently, gynecomastia; reversible confusional states; impotence (men). Rarely, allergic reactions, arthralgia, myalgia; blood disorders; interstitial nephritis; headache; hepatotoxicity; pancreatitis.
Drug Interactions
Increased blood conc of lignocaine, phenytoin, theophylline, warfarin, some antiarrhythmics, benzodiazepines, β-blockers, vasodilators.
