Indications/Uses
Treatment & prevention of acute attacks of gout.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Start treatment at the 1st warning of an acute attack. Usual adult dose: Initially 1-2 tab followed by 1 tab every 1-2 hr until pain is relieved, or nausea, vomiting or diarrhea develops. Interval treatment 1 tab 1-4 times a wk for mild or moderate case; once daily or bid for severe case.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Serious GI, renal, hepatic or cardiac disorders. Not to be given in presence of combined renal & hepatic disease.
Special Precautions
Dose reduction in case of weakness, anorexia, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly & debilitated patients especially w/ renal, hepatic, GI or heart disease. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting &/or diarrhea. May cause bone marrow depression w/ agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia & aplastic anemia during prolonged administration. Peripheral neuritis & depilation. Myopathy.
Drug Interactions
Vit B12, CNS depressants & sympathomimetic agents.
