Mefenamic acid
Indications/Uses
Headache, bursitis, dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia, post-dental extraction pain, RA, OA.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 500 mg, then maintenance dose of 250 mg 6 hrly or 500 mg tid.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to aspirin & other NSAIDs. Peptic or intestinal ulceration, inflammatory bowel disease, renal or hepatic impairment.
Special Precautions
Pregnancy; dehydration, epilepsy, asthma.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances & bleeding, peptic ulceration; headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nervousness; visual disturbances, skin rashes, blood dyscrasias, nephropathy.
Drug Interactions
Oral anticoagulant.
