Lincomycin HCl
Indications/Uses
Infections caused by staph & other gm +ve pathogens.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Mild to moderately severe infections Adult 600 mg IM daily. Childn >1 mth 10 mg/kg IM daily. Severe infections Adult 600 mg IM 12 hrly or more often. IV infusion 600 mg to 1 g 8-12 hrly. Childn 10 mg/kg 12 hrly or more often. IV infusion 10-20 mg/kg daily in 2-3 doses. More severe infections Increase dose.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to clindamycin or lincomycin. Patients w/ diarrhea.
Special Precautions
Impaired hepatic or renal function.
Adverse Reactions
Severe GI disturbances; taste abnormality, pseudomembranous colitis, agranulocytosis, leucopenia. IV administration: Thrombophlebitis, hypotension & rarely, cardiac arrest.
Drug Interactions
Antagonizes action of neostigmine & pyridostigmine. Enhances neuromuscular-blocking effect of tubocurarine.
