Pyrazinamide

Indications/Uses

Failure after adequate treatment w/ primary drugs in any form of active TB. Pyrazinamide should only be given w/ other effective anti-TB agents.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult 20-35 mg/kg in 3-4 divided doses. Max: 3 g/day.

Administration

Should be taken with food.

Contraindications

Severe hepatic damage.

Special Precautions

LFTs should be carried out prior to & every 2-4 wk during therapy. History of gout or DM.

Adverse Reactions

Hepatotoxicity, hyperuricemia.
