Amikacin sulfate
Indications/Uses
Infected wounds, bacteraemia, resp tract, bone & soft tissue infections when complicated by pre-existing debilitating conditions & prior to pathogen identification.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM/IV
Adult
15 mg/kg daily in 2 divided doses.
Childn
15 mg/kg daily in divided doses.
Neonate
Initially 10 mg/kg then 15 mg/kg daily in divided doses.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides.
Special Precautions
Impaired renal function. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity.
