Diclofenac sodium.
Description
Each 100 gm of solution contains Diclofenac diethylamine 1.16 gm equivalent to diclofenac sodium 1 gm.
Aqueous solution of diclofenac sodium bottle provided with a spray pump equipment.
Action
Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Diclofenac is non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) and analgesic preparation designed for external use, due to an aqueous-alcoholic spray exerts a cooling effect.
Pharmacokinetics: Diclofenac spray is applied to the affective area, it is absorbed through the skin.
Indications/Uses
Local treatment of traumatic inflammation of tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints.
Rheumatic diseases, osteoarthritis, periarthropathy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Spray on affected area 3-4 times daily.
Overdosage
Symptom of overdose: Caused by prolonged use or if applied to wide area may cause irritation, skin rash and burn.
Treatment: Discontinue use and supportive care.
Contraindications
In patients with hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other NSAIDs or any of the component of formula.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use and consults the physician, if the adverse effects of skin occurred.
Contraindication in patients with asthma attack, pruritus, or acute sinusitis caused by allergic to aspirin or any NSAIDs.
Avoid use in patients with GI or gastric ulceration, it may increase the risk of this symptom.
Avoid use in patients with renal and hepatic disease, or renal and hepatic dysfunction.
Belonged use of the typical formulation may result of the same adverse effect as the oral dosage form, such as the risk of blood platelet, the heart systemic, and blood vessel.
Use in Pregnancy: See USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION section for further information.
Use in the Elderly: Use with caution in geriatric patients.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Should not be used in pregnancy and nursing mother.
Avoid use in third trimester of pregnancy, especially prescribed by a physician.
Adverse Reactions
Contact dermatitis, hypersensitivity reactions, generalized skin rash, photosensitivity, pruritus.
Drug Interactions
Since systemic absorption of diclofenac from a topical is very low, such interactions are very unlikely.
Storage
Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C and protect from light.
