Fluticasone furoate
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥12 yr Initially 110 mcg once daily administered as 2 sprays (27.5 mcg/spray) in each nostril. Maintenance: 55 mcg (1 spray in each nostril) once daily. Childn 2-11 yr Initially 55 mcg once daily administered as 1 spray (27.5 mcg/spray) in each nostril, may be increased up to 110 mcg (2 sprays in each nostril) once daily. Maintenance: 55 mcg once daily.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Nasal airway infection should be appropriately treated. After nasal surgery, healing must have occurred before use. Caution in patients who may be susceptible to candida infections (eg, diabetics). Reports of systemic effects particularly at high doses prescribed for prolonged periods. Use of excessive doses may cause HPA suppression, reduction in bone density & retardation of growth rate in adolescents & childn. Be alert for evidence of systemic effects including ocular changes.
Adverse Reactions
Epistaxis. Nasal ulceration; headache.
Drug Interactions
Potential risk of increased systemic exposure w/ ketoconazole, ritonavir (CYP3A4 inhibitors).
