Bactroban oint Adult (including elderly/hepatically impaired) & childn Apply bd or tds for up to 10 days, depending on the response. Bactroban Nasal oint Adult (including the elderly/renally impaired/hepatically impaired) & childn Apply a small quantity (approx 30 mg) to each nostril bd-tds for at least 5 days.
Discontinue in case of possible sensitisation reaction or severe local irritation. Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms. Discontinue if prolonged or significant diarrhoea occurs or the patient experiences abdominal cramps. Avoid contact w/ eyes. Pregnancy & lactation. Bactroban oint Not for ophth or intranasal use (in neonates or infants); use in conjunction w/ cannulae; at the site of central venous cannulation. Not to be used in conditions where absorption of large quantities of polyethylene glycol is possible, especially if there is evidence of moderate or severe renal impairment. Bactroban Nasal oint Not for ophth use.
Cutaneous sensitisation reactions to mupirocin or the ointment base. Systemic allergic reactions including anaphylaxis, generalized rash, urticaria & angioedema. Bactroban oint Burning localised to the area of application. Itching, erythema, stinging & dryness localised to the area of application. Bactroban Nasal oint Nasal mucosa reactions.
