Per actuation Beclometasone dipropionate 100 mcg, formoterol fumarate dihydrate 6 mcg
Indications/Uses
Regular treatment of asthma in adult patients in whom asthma is inadequately controlled by using inhaled corticosteroids & 'as needed' short-acting bronchodilators, or asthma is responding well to treatment w/ both corticosteroids & long-acting bronchodilators. Symptomatic treatment of severe COPD in adults.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & the elderly Asthma w/ a separate reliever inhaler 1-2 puffs bd. Max daily dose: 4 puffs. Asthma as monotherapy 1 puff in the morning & 1 puff in the evening. Max daily dose: 8 puffs. COPD 2 puffs in the morning & 2 puffs in the evening.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Patients w/ severe asthma; any heart problems eg, angina, MI, heart failure, CHD, valvular heart disease, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy; arteriosclerosis, HTN, aneurysm; heart rhythm disorders; overactive thyroid gland; hypokalaemia; renal or hepatic impairment; DM; phaeochromocytoma; active or history of TB or chest viral or fungal infection; any medical problems or any allergies; patients due to have an anaesth; patients taking higher doses of inhaled corticosteroids over long period. Risk of hypokalaemia; blurred vision or other visual disturbances. Contains small amount of alcohol. Do not use during pregnancy or if suspecting or planning pregnancy, or during breast-feeding. Do not use in childn & adolescents <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Fungal infections of the mouth & throat, headache, hoarseness, sore throat; pneumonia in COPD patients. Paradoxical bronchospasm; hypersensitivity reactions.
Drug Interactions
Increased effects w/ ritonavir, cobicistat. Reduced formoterol effect w/ β-blockers. Increased formoterol effect w/ other β-adrenergic drugs. ECG changes & increased risk of ventricular arrhythmias w/ quinidine, disopyramide, procainamide, antihistamines, MAOIs, TCAs, phenothiazines. Lowered cardiac tolerance to β2 agonist w/ L-dopa, L-thyroxine, oxytocin, alcohol. Increased BP w/ MAOIs, furazolidone, procarbazine. Increased risk of hypokalaemia w/ digoxin, theophylline, aminophylline, steroids, diuretics. Increased risk of abnormal heart rhythms w/ some anaesth.
