Polymyxin B sulfate, neomycin sulfate, lidocaine HCl.
Each 100-mL ear drops contains polymyxin B sulfate 1,000,000 units, neomycin (as neomycin sulfate) 0.375 g, lidocaine HCl 4 g, water, propylene glycol and glycerol.
Otozambon is particularly indicated in the treatment of several ear affections.
Besides neomycin and polymyxin B, broad spectrum antibiotics, the electric activity of which respectively, on Proteus and Pyocianeus is well-known, Otozambon contains lidocaine, which, due to its anesthetic properties, relieves the painful symptoms accompanying otologic infections.
Because of the synergistic action of these antibacterial agents, Otozambon provides a useful means in the treatment of infectious forms and furthermore allows to hasten the disappearance of phlogistic signs and mucopurulent secretion, to relieve the painful pruriginous subjective symptomatology.
Acute and chronic otitis externa. In the pre- and postperforative stage and chronic secretive otitis. Suppurative complications following ear and mastoid surgery (radical mastoidectomy, plastic surgery on the thympan, atticoantrotomy, fenestration, etc).
Otozambon must be instilled with the proper dropper in the external auricular tube at the following doses:
Adults: 4-5 drops, 2-4 times daily according to the seriousness of the morbid form.
Children: Recommended Dose: 2-3 drops, 3-4 times daily.
The treatment period varies in relation to the promptness of the therapeutic result. The high tolerability of Otozambon allows, if necessary, also prolonged treatment.
