Indications/Uses
Monotherapy or combination therapy w/ statins for the reduction of total cholesterol, LDL, & apolipoprotein B in the management of hyperlipidaemia in addition to diet & other lifestyle changes.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ liver disease, active or unexplained increases in liver enzymes. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Anaphylaxis. Hepatitis; pancreatitis; myopathy/rhabdomyolysis, myalgia. Past or current medical problems (including liver disease or liver problems).
Adverse Reactions
Abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, tiredness, viral infection, pharyngitis, sinusitis, arthralgia, back pain & coughing. Raised red rash sometimes w/ target-shaped lesions, dizziness, depression, tingling sensation, constipation, & unusual tiredness or weakness. When co-administered w/ statin: Headache, myalgia, upper resp tract infection, changes in certain laboratory tests.
Drug Interactions
May interact w/ cyclosporine; cholestyramine or any other bile acid sequestrant; fibrates.
