Pregabalin.
Description
Each capsule of pms-PREGABALIN contains 25 mg, 50 mg, 75 mg, 150 mg or 300 mg of pregabalin.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Ammonium hydroxide, gelatin, iron oxide black, pregelatinized starch, propylene glycol, shellac glaze, talc, titanium dioxide. In addition the 75 and 300mg strengths contain also red iron oxide.
Action
pms-PREGABALIN can relieve pain. Some patients taking pregabalin showed improvement as early as the first week of treatment.
Indications/Uses
pms-PREGABALIN is a prescription medicine used for: The treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults.
Adjunctive therapy in adults with partial seizures with or without secondary generalisation.
The treatment of Generalised Anxiety Disorder in adults.
Dosage/Direction for Use
pms-PREGABALIN can be taken with or without food. Avoid alcoholic drinks while taking pms-PREGABALIN.
Usual adult dose: The doctor will tell how much to take and when to take it.
Missed Dose: If a dose has been missed by a few hours, it should be taken as soon as remembered. If it is close to the next dose, do NOT take the missed capsules. Simply wait and restart pms-PREGABALIN with the next scheduled dose.
Do not suddenly stop taking pms-PREGABALIN. Talk to the doctor first. Plan ahead to have a refill to avoid running out.
Overdosage
In case of a drug overdose, immediately go to the nearest emergency room even if not feeling sick. Make sure to take the medicine bottle to show the doctor which medicine has been taken.
Contraindications
pms-PREGABALIN should not be taken if the patient is allergic to pregabalin, the main ingredient in pms-PREGABALIN, or any other ingredient in pms-PREGABALIN. Children under the age of 18 years.
Special Precautions
What is the most important information about pms-PREGABALIN?: pms-PREGABALIN may cause serious allergic reactions. Call the doctor right away if the patient has any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction: swelling of the face, mouth, lips, gums, tongue or neck; has any trouble breathing; other allergic reactions may include rash, hives and blisters.
pms-PREGABALIN may cause dizziness and sleepiness.
Do not drive a car, work with machines, or do other dangerous activities until it has been known how pms-PREGABALIN affects alertness. Ask the doctor when it is okay to do these activities.
pms-PREGABALIN may cause problems with the eyesight, including blurry vision. Call the doctor if any changes in the eyesight have been observed.
BEFORE using pms-PREGABALIN tell the doctor or pharmacist if: The patient is taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicines, or natural/herbal remedies.
The patient has any kidney problems.
The patient is pregnant, plans to become pregnant, or thinks she might be pregnant.
The patient is breastfeeding. pms-PREGABALIN passes into breast milk and it is not known if it can harm the baby. Discuss with the healthcare provider whether the patient should take pms- PREGABALIN or breast-feed, but should not do both.
The patient has ever had an allergic reaction (itching, wheezing, hives, or swelling of the throat or face) to pregabalin or any of the nonmedicinal ingredients listed in Description.
The patient has a history of heart disease called congestive heart failure.
The patient has a history of lower gastrointestinal problems eg., constipation, blocked or paralysed bowel), or is taking medication(s) that may cause constipation.
Side Effects
Some patients may have side effects while taking pms-PREGABALIN. Side effects are usually mild. In studies, few patients stopped taking pms-PREGABALIN due to side effects.
The most common side effects were: dizziness, sleepiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, swelling of the extremities, weight gain, trouble concentrating, lack of energy, muscle weakness, constipation, and forgetfulness.
A small number of patients taking a drug of this type may experience thoughts of suicide. The doctor should be informed immediately if this occurs.
When starting the intake of pms-PREGABALIN, sleepiness or dizziness may be experienced. Avoid potentially hazardous tasks: do not drive a car or operate machinery until sure that this medication does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery or until the patient gets used to pms-PREGABALIN.
When pms-PREGABALIN is taken with other medications that may cause constipation (such as opioid pain medications), it is possible that gastrointestinal problems may occur (eg., constipation, blocked or paralysed bowel). (See table.)

Drug Interactions
While taking pms-PREGABALIN, don't start any new medicines, including natural or herbal medicines, without talking to the doctor first. The doctor or pharmacist will know which medicines are safe to be taken together. pms-PREGABALIN does not interfere with birth control pills.
The patient may have a higher chance for dizziness and sleepiness if the following drugs are taken with pms-PREGABALIN: Alcohol; Medicines for anxiety (such as lorazepam); Narcotic pain medicine (such as oxycodone); Any medicines that cause sleepiness.
The patient may have a higher chance of weight gain or swelling if the antidiabetic pills, Avandia (rosiglitazone) or Actos (pioglitazone) are taken with pms-PREGABALIN.
Storage
Store below 25°C in the package it came in.
