Trimebutine maleate
Indications/Uses
Treatment & relief of symptoms associated w/ irritable bowel syndrome (spastic colon). In post-op paralytic ileus in order to accelerate the resumption of intestinal transit following abdominal surgery.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Recommended dose: 600 mg daily in divided doses. Administered as 200 mg tds.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Pregnancy. Childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth, foul taste, diarrhea, dyspepsia, epigastric pain, nausea & constipation; drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, hot/cold sensations & headaches; rash.
Drug Interactions
Increased duration of d-tubocurarine-induced curarization.
