Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis (including persistent allergic rhinitis) & urticaria.

Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult & adolescent ≥12 yr, childn 6-12 yr 5 mg (1 tab) daily. Renal impairment, mild (50-79 mL/min) 1 tab daily, moderate (30-49 mL/min) 1 tab once every 2 days, severe (<30 mL/min) 1 tab once every 3 days. Oral drops Adult, adolescent ≥12 yr & childn 6-12 yr 5 mg daily (20 drops). Childn 2-6 yr 1.25 mg bd (5 drops bd). Renal impairment, mild (50-79 mL/min) 5 mg once daily, moderate (30-49 mL/min) 5 mg once every 2 days, severe (<30 mL/min) 5 mg once every 3 days.

Overdosage
View Xyzal overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Tab: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine, hydroxyzine, any piperazine derivatives or any of the excipients. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <10 mL/min).

Special Precautions
Alcohol consumption. Patients w/ predisposing factors of urinary retention (eg, spinal cord lesion, prostatic hyperplasia); hepatic & renal impairment; epilepsy or risk of convulsion. Pruritus may occur. Inhibited response to allergy skin tests. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly w/ moderate to severe renal impairment. Tab: Childn <6 yr. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Oral drops: Hypersensitivity to methyl parahydroxybenzoate & propyl parahydroxybenzoate. Infants & childn <2 yr.

Adverse Reactions
Headache, somnolence. Adult & adolescents >12 yr: Dry mouth, fatigue. Paed: Sleep disorders; diarrhoea, constipation.

Drug Interactions
Possible CNS effects w/ alcohol or other CNS depressants. Possible small decrease in clearance w/ theophylline. Potential increase in exposure w/ ritonavir.
