Topical/Cutaneous Superficial dermatophyte infections Adult: As 1% gel/soln/powd/cream: Apply a thin layer to the affected area(s) bid. As powder/liq spray: Spray a thin layer to the affected area(s) bid. Treatment duration: 2 wk (tinea cruris); 4 wk (tinea corporis, tinea pedis). Child: ≥2 yr Same as adult dose. |

Not intended for use for nail or scalp infections. Patient Counselling Avoid contact w/ eyes.

Dermatologic: Irritation, contact dermatitis, pruritus, stinging.

Action
Tolnaftate is a synthetic thiocarbamate antifungal agent which inhibits the growth of dermatophytes (e.g. Epidermophyton, Micosporum, Trichophyton spp., Malassezia furfur) by distorting the hyphae and stopping mycelial growth in susceptible fungi. It is inactive against Candida spp. or bacteria.
Onset: 24-72 hr. |

Topical/Cutaneous: Store between 20-25°C.
