Per cap Codeine 30 mg, phenyltoloxamine 10 mg. Per 5 mL syr Codeine 11.11 mg, phenyltoloxamine 3.67 mg

Indications/Uses

Symptomatic treatment of irritative cough (nonproductive dry cough) brought about by allergy.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Cap Adult & childn >14 yr 1 cap. Syr Adult & childn >14 yr 3 tbsp, 6-14 yr 2 tbsp, 4-6 yr 1 tbsp, 2-4 yr ½ tbsp. All doses to be taken twice daily (morning & evening).

Administration

Should be taken with food: Cap: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.

Contraindications

Resp insufficiency, acute asthma, coma, prostatic hypertrophy w/ residual urine formation, narrow-angle glaucoma, GI disorder, pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 yr.

Special Precautions

CNS & resp depression, acute alcoholism, acute pulmonary disease, convulsive disorders, renal & liver dysfunction, fever, hypothyroidism, Addison's disease, ulcerative colitis, prostatic hypertrophy, post-op gastro or urinary tract, aggravate constipation, patients w/ hypovolemia, elderly. Dependence may occur. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.

Adverse Reactions

Nausea & vomiting, pruritus, skin reaction; hypersensitivity reactions, increased body wt, constipation, visual disturbance, resp depression.
