Tramadol HCl
Indications/Uses
Severe acute & chronic pain, post-op pain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cap Adult & childn >12 yr 50-100 mg not less often than every 4 hr; total daily dose of 400 mg by mouth is usually sufficient. Inj 50-100 mg every 4-6 hr. Post-op pain 100 mg initially then 50 mg every 10-20 min if necessary. Max: 400 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Concomitant therapy w/ MAOIs. Acute intoxication w/ alcohol, hypnotics, analgesics, psychotropics.
Special Precautions
Head injury, increased intracranial pressure. Resp disorder, patients prone to convulsion disorders or in shock. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Severe renal & hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, obstipation, fatigue, sedation, dizziness, pruritus, sweating, flushing, dry mouth, headache.
Drug Interactions
MAOIs, other CNS-acting drugs.
