Betamethasone 0.25 mg, dexchlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg
Indications/Uses
Resp, ocular & dermatologic allergies.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Syr Adult 5-10 mL 3-4 times daily. Max: 40 mL/day. Childn 6-12 yr 2.5 mL 3 times daily. Max: 20 mL/day. Childn 2-6 yr 1.25-2.5 mL 3 times daily. Max: 15 mL/day.
Contraindications
Peptic ulcer, systemic fungal infection. Newborn & premature infants.
Special Precautions
Cirrhosis, ocular herpes simplex, emotional instability or psychotic tendencies, nonspecific ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, fresh intestinal anastomoses, pyloroduodenal obstruction, renal insufficiency, HTN, osteoporosis, myasthenia gravis, TB. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Musculoskeletal, GI, dermatologic, neurologic, endocrine, ophth, metabolic, psychiatric, CV, hematologic, genitourinary, resp disturbances.
Drug Interactions
Metabolism of corticosteroids enhanced by phenobarb, phenytoin, rifampicin, ephedrine. Hypocalcemia enhanced by K-depleting diuretic, amphotericin B, cardiac glycosides, coumarins, aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, alcohol, CNS, depressants, MAOI.
