Action
Pharmacology: Alpha-lipoic (Thioctic) acid as present in Alanerv is a vitamin-like compound produced by the human body and also contained in several foods. It is a natural substance with an antioxidant effect on free radicals, both water soluble and liposoluble. This action is enhanced by the combination of selenium and vitamin E, in an attempt to prevent damage to the endothelial function of vasa vasorum and vasa nervorum. The B group vitamins, as reported in scientific literature, can be useful for their action on cell trophism and to help protect the nervous cells. Finally, γ-linolenic acid, a precursor of unsaturated fatty acids important in the constitution of cellular membranes, has a synergic and strengthening action on the activity of α-lipoic acid in increasing neuron conducting speed and vasa nervorum flow.
