Invasive fungal infection in patients who are refractory to or intolerant of conventional amphotericin B therapy. Severe systemic fungal infections including aspergillosis, blastomycosis, candidiasis, coccidioidomycosis, cryptococcosis, histoplasmosis, mucormycosis, paracoccidioidomycosis & sporotrichosis. Treatment of choice in fungal endocarditis, meningitis, peritonitis or severe resp tract infections.
Not to be used for treating common or superficial inapparent fungal infections (detectable only by +ve skin or serologic tests). Monitor renal function prior to & at least once wkly during therapy. Patients undergoing renal dialysis (administer only after completion of dialysis). Monitor serum K & Mg levels regularly. May increase serum bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase or transaminase. Pregnancy & lactation.
