HTN. Reduce risk of stroke in hypertensive patients w/ left ventricular hypertrophy. Diabetic nephropathy w/ elevated serum creatinine & proteinuria in patients w/ type 2 diabetes & history of HTN.
May increase serum K w/ K-sparing diuretics (eg, spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride), K supplements or K-containing salt replacements. May lower excretion of lithium. Antihypertensive effect may be attenuated w/ NSAIDs including selective COX-2 inhibitors.
