Indications/Uses
Effective in acute period of ischemic stroke; rehabilitation period after ischemic & hemorrhagic stroke; head injury, acute & rehabilitation period; cognitive abnormalities at degenerate & vascular diseases of brain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administer by IM inj, or bolus IV inj (during 5 min) or slow IV infusion (40-60 drop/min). Acute period of ischemic stroke & traumatic brain damage Recommended dose after recognition: 100 mg every 12 hr. 3-7 days after starting treatment, IM (1-2 inj daily) or oral (if swallow ability is damaged) administration. Duration: Not <6 wk. Rehabilitation period of ischemic & hemorrhagic stroke, traumatic brain damage, cognitive abnormalities at degenerate & vascular diseases of brain 500-2,000 mg daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Not to be administered to patients w/ parasympathetic hypertonia.
Special Precautions
Not to exceed 500 mg for single-dose administration in intracranial hemorrhage. Avoid repeated administration to the same place during IM administration. Not to be administered w/ medications containing meclofenoxate (clophenoxate). Not to be used w/ alcohol. Caution during driving & similar things requiring high psychomotor reaction speed. Not to be used during pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Sleeplessness, headache, dizziness, excitation, tremor, numbness in the paralyzed limbs; nausea, decreased appetite, change of activity of hepatic enzymes; rash, skin itch, anaphylactic shock; heat, short term hypotension, stimulation of parasympathetic nervous system.
Drug Interactions
Potentiated effect of L-dopa. Not to be co-administered w/ meclofenoxate-including drug.
