Drug Interactions
Concomitant administration of tizanidine and ciprofloxacin is contraindicated. The hypotensive and sedative effects of tizanidine are potentiated. As with other quinolone, concurrent administration of ciprofloxacin with theophylline may be lead to elevated serum concentrations of theophylline and prolongation of its elimination half-life. This may result in increased risk of theophylline related adverse reactions.
Ciprofloxacin may slow down how quickly the human liver processes clozapine. Ciprofloxacin may interact with warfarin through pharmacodynamic or pharmacokinetic mechanisms. Pharmacodynamic mechanisms for drug interactions with warfarin are synergism and alteration of physiological control loop of vitamin K. Ciprofloxacin, a quinolone antibiotic which exhibits minimal adverse effects and has broad antimicrobial spectrum, is being used frequently to treat various infections. Ciprofloxacin and aluminum hydroxide should not be taken orally at the same time. Products that contain magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron and/or other minerals may interfere with the absorption of ciprofloxacin and reduce its effectiveness. Ciprofloxacin (mixture) oral and ondansetron oral both increase causing a dangerous abnormal heart rhythm. Combination should be avoided with congenital long QT syndrome.
