Per 5 mL Clavoxel 250 mg/62.5 mg powd for oral susp Amoxicillin trihydrate 250 mg, clavulanate K 62.5 mg. Per 5 mL Clavoxel-BID 228.5 mg powd for oral susp Amoxicillin trihydrate 200 mg, clavulanate K 28.5 mg. Indications/Uses
Clavoxel Lower resp tract infections, acute otitis media, sinusitis, UTI, skin & soft tissue infections. Clavoxel-BID Actinomycosis, anthrax, biliary tract infections, bronchitis, prophylaxis of endocarditis, gastroenteritis (including Salmonella enteritis), gonorrhea, Lyme disease, mouth infections, otitis media, pneumonia, spleen disorders, typhoid & paratyphoid fever, UTI.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Clavoxel tab Adult 1 tab every 8 hr. Clavoxel powd for oral susp Childn 7-12 yr 10 mL (125 mg/31.25 mg) tid or 5 mL (250 mg/62.5 mg) tid. 2-6 yr 5 mL (125 mg/31.25 mg) tid. <20 kg 20-40 mg/kg tid. Clavoxel-BID 228.5 mg/5 mL powd for oral susp Childn 7-12 yr 10 mL every 12 hr. 2-6 yr 5 mL every 12 hr. <20 kg 20-40 mg/kg every 12 hr. 9 mth-1 yr 2.5 mL every 12 hr. 457 mg/5 mL powd for oral susp 7-12 yr 10 mL every 12 hr. 2-6 yr 5 mL every 12 hr. <20 kg 20-40 mg/kg every 12 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to β-lactams. Co-amoxiclav-associated jaundice or hepatic dysfunction.
Special Precautions
Severe renal impairment. Hepatic dysfunction. Avoid use if glandular fever is suspected.
Adverse Reactions
Clavoxel Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rashes. Clavoxel-BID Hepatitis & cholestatic jaundice. Erythema multiforme, SJS & TEN & exfoliative dermatitis.
