Each sachet contains: Racecadotril 30 mg.
Pharmacology: Racecadotril is an antidiarrheal drug which acts as a peripherally acting enkephalinase inhibitor. Racecadotril has an antisecretory effect and it reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes into the intestine.
Pharmacokinetics: Racecadotril is administered by the oral route, is well absorbed from the intestinal tract and is rapidly converted to its active metabolite thiorphan. Peak plasma levels are attained in about an hour and half life of the drug is three hours.
For the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea.
Adults: It is given orally in doses of 100 mg three times daily before meals for up to 7 days.
Children 3 months and above: 1.5 mg/kg three times daily.
Or as prescribed by the physician.
Hypersensitivity to racecadotril or any component of the formulation.
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hepatic failure due to lack of clinical experience in these groups.
Use in Pregnancy: Racecadotril should not be used in pregnancy unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
Use in Lactation: Racecadotril should not be used in breastfeeding unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks.

Vomiting, fever, hypokalemia, ileus, bronchospasm, skin rashes are some common adverse effects of Racecadotril.
