Etoposide
Indications/Uses
Small cell lung carcinoma, lymphosarcoma, acute leukemia, testicular tumor, bladder cancer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
60-100 mg/m2 IV daily for 5 days. Not to be repeated more frequently than at 3 wk intervals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe bone marrow depression. Pregnancy. Premature neonates.
Special Precautions
Bone marrow depression, hepatic or cardiac impairment, complication w/ infections, chickenpox. Monitor patient's condition & perform clinical tests (hematologic, hepatic, renal test) frequently. Long-term therapy. Manifestation or ingravescence of bleeding tendency. Do not administer as SC or IM. Lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, bleeding, anemia; hepatic function disorders; elevations of BUN & creatinine, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, stomatitis, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation; rash; severe alopecia, erythema, pruritus, carpopedal numbness, headache; ECG abnormality, arrhythmia, hypotension; malaise, flush.
Drug Interactions
Increased AUC values & reduced clearance w/ cyclosporine. Reduced total body clearance w/ cisplatin. Increased clearance & reduced efficacy w/ phenytoin or phenobarb. Live vaccines. Elevated INR w/ warfarin. Phenylbutazone, Na salicylate & ASA.
