Aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, oxetacaine.
Description
Each softgel capsule contains: Aluminum hydroxide 400 mg, Magnesium hydroxide 97.5 mg, Oxetacaine 10 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: Geltazine contains Aluminum hydroxide and Magnesium hydroxide which are antacids that neutralize the acidity in the stomach.
Geltazine also contains Oxetacaine which is a local anesthetic. It is administered by mouth in conjunction with antacids for the symptomatic relief of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).
Indications/Uses
Geltazine is used for the symptomatic relief of peptic ulcers both gastric and duodenal, acute and chronic gastritis, esophagitis and heartburn associated with hiatus hernia, pregnancy and postradiation.
Dosage/Direction for Use
One softgel capsule 30 minutes before meal orally (by mouth) three times daily or as prescribed by the physician.
Missed Dose: If the patient misses a dose, just take the subsequent doses at the recommended time or schedule.
Do not double the dose unless recommended by the physician.
Overdosage
Signs and Symptoms of Overdose: Aluminum hydroxide may cause constipation and magnesium salts overdose may cause hypermotility of the bowel. Large doses may trigger or aggravate intestinal obstruction and ileus in patients at higher risk such as those with renal impairment, or the elderly.
If the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage consult a doctor.
Contraindications
If the patient is allergic to any of the ingredients of the product.
If the patient has one of the following conditions: Kidney disease; Low serum phosphate; Fecal impaction; GI hemorrhages; Cirrhosis; Uremia.
Special Precautions
Cautions should be given to patients with renal insufficiency.
When to Consult a Doctor: Ask a doctor before use if the patient is: Taking other medications because antacids could interact with them.

Adverse Reactions
The combination of Aluminum hydroxide and Magnesium hydroxide balances the side effects of diarrhea from Magnesium hydroxide and constipation from Aluminum hydroxide.
People with kidney failure are at risk of high aluminum and magnesium levels in the blood.
Drug Interactions
Antacids containing aluminum and magnesium oxides impair the absorption of tetracyclines.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
Protect from light.
