Indications/Uses
Adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women w/ hormone receptor (+ve early breast cancer).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly 2.5 mg once daily. In adjuvant setting, treatment continued for 5 yr or until relapse occurs.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Premenopausal endocrine status. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Women w/ non-metastatic disease; osteoporosis &/or history of fractures. Assess postmenopausal status before initiating treatment; bone mineral density prior adjuvant or extended adjuvant treatment. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Renal (CrCl <30 mL/min) & severe hepatic (cirrhosis & Child-Pugh grade C) impairment. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Women of childbearing potential, premenopausal women or who recently became postmenopausal.
Adverse Reactions
Hot flushes, arthralgia, nausea & fatigue; alopecia & vag bleeding; arthritis, myalgia; thromboembolic events, angina pectoris, MI & cardiac failure.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ medicinal products whose disposition is dependent on CYP450 isoenzymes 2A6 & 2C19 & whose therapeutic index is narrow.
