Indications/Uses
Prevention of nausea & vomiting induced by cytotoxic therapy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Prevention of nausea & vomiting induced by cytotoxic therapy 5 mg/day on day 1 immediately before cancer chemotherapy as an infusion over 15 min or as slow inj (not <1 min) followed by oral administration on days 2-6.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to tropisetron, other 5-HT3 receptor antagonists or other components.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ cardiac rhythm or conduction disturbances. Patients w/ impaired hepatic or renal function, uncontrolled HTN. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn.
Adverse Reactions
Constipation; dizziness, fatigue, somnolence & GI disorders eg, abdominal pain, diarrhoea & anorexia. Flushing, generalised urticaria, chest discomfort, dyspnoea, acute bronchospasm, hypotension.
Drug Interactions
Lower plasma conc w/ rifampicin or phenobarb.
