Care is required in epileptic patients receiving anticonvulsant therapy as it may lower the seizure threshold; and should be avoided in untreated epileptics. Elderly and debilitated patients may be more prone to its adverse effects. Administration at extremes of temperature may be hazardous since body temperature regulation is impaired by these agents. Regular eye examination is advisable for patients receiving long term Fluphenazine therapy and avoidance of undue exposure to direct sunlight is recommended. Patients should remain supine for at least 30mins after parenteral administration, and blood pressure should be monitored.
