Use in pregnant women: There are reports to suggest that when given systemically, the drug can penetrate the placental barrier. The use of topical application in pregnancy requires that potential benefits should be outweighed against the possible hazards to the fetus.
Use in lactating mothers: Use in lactating mothers with breast-infection may result in absorption to infants.
Safety in nursing mothers has not been established. When this drug has been given systemically, levels has been detected in breast milk but with topical use the possible amount of drug present is unlikely to affect the infant.
