Adult Repeated IV inj Initially, 20 mg slow IV inj over at 2 min period. Maintenance: Additional inj of 40 or 80 mg can be given at 10 min interval until desired supine BP is achieved or a total of 300 mg has been inj. Slow continuous infusion 50-200 mg: Total dose up to 300 mg may be required at a rate of 2 mg/min.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Bronchial asthma, overt cardiac failure, > 1st-degree heart block, cardiogenic shock, severe bradycardia (<45-50 bpm), other conditions associated w/ severe & prolonged hypotension. History of obstructive airway disease including asthma. Low cardiac output due to peripheral vasoconstriction.
Impaired hepatic function. History of severe anaphylactic reactions. Discontinue if jaundice or lab evidence of liver injury occurs. Avoid in overt CHF. History of heart failure, poorly controlled DM. Monitor blood glucose levels closely during therapy in patients w/ DM. Patients undergoing major surgery; severely elevated BP; avoid patients w/ low cardiac indices & elevated systemic vascular resistance; CABG surgery; high dose. Avoid upright position w/in 3 hr of administration. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Elderly.
