Calcium carbonate.
Description
Each capsule contains: Chalk (Calcium carbonate) 835 mg (equivalent to calcium 334 mg).
Each tablet contains: Chalk (Calcium carbonate) 1,000 mg (equivalent to calcium 400 mg).
Indications/Uses
Phosphate binder and maintain calcium balance in patients with chronic renal failure.
Antacid.
Hypocalcaemia.
Calcium supplement in children, pregnant and lactating women, postmenopausal women and the elderly.
Treatment of calcium deficiency states which may occur in diseases such as: acute and chronic hypoparathyroidism, postmenopausal and senile osteoporosis, rickets and osteomalacia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
In chronic renal failure patients: 1-2 capsules 3 to 4 times daily or 1 tablet 3 to 4 times daily with meals or as prescribed by the physician. To achieve the maximal phosphate-binding effect, it is recommended that intake of CHALKCAP should contain at least 1000 mg of elemental calcium per day. Serum calcium and phosphate should be monitored periodically.
Antacid: 1-2 capsules 4 to 6 times daily or 1 tablet 4 to 6 times daily before meals or as prescribed by the physician.
Hypocalcaemia: 1-2 capsules 2 times daily or 1 tablet 2 times daily after meals or as prescribed by the physician.
