Ciprofloxacin HCl

Indications/Uses

Infections of resp tract, GUT, GIT, ear, eye, skin & soft tissue.

Dosage/Direction for Use

UTI, GIT or resp tract infections 250-500 mg bid. Acute gonorrhea 250 mg as single dose. Severe or systemic infections 250-750 mg bid.

Administration

May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to minimise GI discomfort. Do not take w/ antacids, Fe or dairy products.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to quinolones. Childn. Pregnancy, lactation.

Special Precautions

Renal or hepatic impairment, CNS damage, epilepsy.

Adverse Reactions

Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, agitation, muscular weakness.

Drug Interactions

Absorption reduced by antacid. Excretion delayed by probenecid. May increase theophylline plasma levels. May potentiate effects of oral anticoagulants, phenytoin.
