Indocyanine green
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult LFT 0.5 mg/kg of body wt diluted to conc of 5 mg/mL w/ water for inj IV gradually into the cubitus vein w/in 30 sec. Chorioretinal angiography Dissolve 25 mg in 2 mL of water for inj & immediately inj via the cubital vein.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Discontinue if oral numbness, nausea, chest distress, bulbar conjunctival congestion & edema of eyelids develop during inj. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Shock, nausea, vascular pain, pyrexia/hot feeling. Queasy.
Drug Interactions
Reduced peak absorption w/ heparin containing Na bisulfate. Inhibit uptake into hepatocytes w/ iotroxate meglumine, choleretic agents, rifampicin & anti-gout agents. Decreased t½ w/ phenobarb. Changes in max absorption spectrum w/ sulfobromophthalein Na (BSP).
