Dosage/Direction for Use
Recommended Dose: The patient should be in an appropriate lipid-lowering diet and should continue on this diet during treatment with Ezetimibe.
The recommended dose for EZB is 10 mg once daily, used alone, with statin, or with fenofibrate. Ezetimibe can be administered at any time of the day, with or without food.
Use in Patients with Coronary Heart Disease and ACS event history: For incremental cardiovascular event reduction in patients with coronary heart disease and ACS event history, EZB 10 mg may be administered with a statin with proven cardiovascular benefit.
Use in Renal Impairment/Chronic Kidney Disease: Monotherapy: In patients with renal impairment, no dosage adjustment.
Combination Therapy with Simvastatin: In patients with mild renal impairment (estimated GFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.73 m2), no adjustment of ezetimibe or simvastatin is necessary. In patients with chronic kidney disease (estimated GFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2), the dose of ezetimibe is 10 mg and the dose of simvastatin is 20 mg once a day in the evening. In patients, the use of higher dose of simvastatin should be closely monitored.
Use in the elderly: No dosage adjustment is necessary.
Use in pediatric patients: Children and adolescent ≥ 6 years: No dosage adjustment.
Children < 6 years: Treatment with ezetimibe is not recommended.
Use in hepatic impairment: Mild hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh class A): No dosage adjustment necessary.
Moderate to severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh class B or C): Treatment of ezetimibe is not recommended.
Co-administration with bile acid sequestrants: Should co-administer ezetimibe at least 2 hours before or at least 4 hours after bile acid sequestrants.
