Freeze-dried live attenuated hepatitis A vaccine
Indications/Uses
Active immunization against hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection in persons >18 mth. Primary immunization. Pre- & post-exposure prophylaxis of individuals at increased risk of infection.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Inj single dose of 0.5 mL SC over deltoid muscle of upper arm. Adult & childn 1 single dose is required after 18 mth of age.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Acute infectious disease or other serious illness. Acute febrile illness w/ temp >37.5°C. Immunological deficiency states. History of anaphylaxis or any other serious allergic reaction to vaccines. Hemophilia A.
Special Precautions
Not to inj IV. Immunocompromised persons. Avoid contact w/ any disinfectant. May be given >3 mth after γ-globulin administration. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Local: Pain at the site of inj; redness; swelling, hematoma, induration/edema; pruritus. Systemic: Fever (>37.5°C axillary); asthenia/drowsiness; headache, myalgia/arthralgia; GI disorders; behavioural changes, skin disorders.
