Levonorgestrel is also known as d-norgestrel.
The following sites of action play a role in the contraceptive action of Postinor 2: Hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarial axis; ovulation inhibition depending on the time and frequency of intake; endometrial factor (direct inhibition of implantation or direct effect on the blastula); tubal factor (alteration of tubal motility); inhibition of sperm-capacitation (inhibition of capacitation ie, the ultimate ripping phase of the sperms in the female organism).
Emergency oral contraceptive. Postinor 2 is indicated for females having sexual intercourse occasionally.
1 tab within 24-72 hrs after sexual intercourse and additional 1 tab 12 hrs after the 1st dose.
Liver and gallbladder diseases. History of gravidity jaundice. Its application in puberty should particularly be considered.
In order to secure prevention, not more than 4 tablets monthly are suggested. In case of more frequent intercourses, the combined tablets (or other contraceptive methods) are recommended.

Nausea and breakthrough bleeding may occur 2-3 days after taking the tablet. In case of more severe bleeding, gynaecological examination is recommended.
